On February 3, 2025, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was shut down after actions by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk. Musk revealed that President Trump supported the decision, believing USAID, which provides billions in foreign aid, was beyond reform. Musk likened the agency to a “ball of worms,” claiming it couldn’t be salvaged. Over 600 USAID employees were locked out, and those still logged in received an email about the shutdown. Musk and DOGE reportedly aimed to access USAID’s classified intelligence files. Trump criticized USAID’s leadership, calling them “radical lunatics” and pledged to remove them.
Wow, so USAID—doesn’t even stand for U.S. “AID” it stands for “United States Agency for International Development” and their budget is BIGGER than the State Dept. and the actual CIA COMBINED.
