Obama Says Texas Flash Flooding ‘Absolutely Heartbreaking’

Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have expressed their condolences following the catastrophic flash flooding in Central Texas, which has claimed at least 80 lives and left dozens more missing.

Obama stated, “Michelle and I are praying for everyone who has lost a loved one or is waiting for news — especially the parents. We’re grateful to the first responders and rescue teams working around the clock to help.”

Bush echoed the sentiment, writing, “Laura and I are heartbroken by the loss of life and the agony so many are feeling. Those who have lost their precious children are facing a grief no parent should ever know.”

President Donald Trump also addressed the tragedy, confirming that his administration is coordinating with state and local officials. “Our Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, will be there shortly,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Melania and I are praying for all of the families impacted. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS.” Trump added he plans to visit Texas on Friday.

A beacon of hope amid the devastation is U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Scott Ruskan, who helped rescue over 200 people. The 26-year-old was praised by Secretary Noem for saving 165 people at Camp Mystic, many of them children.

Rescue operations are still underway, with local, state, and federal teams working tirelessly. The flooding, which caused the Guadalupe River to rise rapidly, continues to leave a deep impact on the region.
