Ocasio-Cortez Responds To Question About 2028 Presidential Bid

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has not ruled out a 2028 presidential run, responding to speculation with a focus on Medicaid and civil rights rather than campaign talk. Speaking to Fox News, she emphasized protecting healthcare and opposing what she described as Republican efforts to strip benefits, though GOP leaders have denied targeting Medicaid cuts.

A viral campaign-style video and her appearances alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders on a national “Fighting Oligarchy” tour have fueled rumors of a future presidential bid. In the video, she declared, “We are one,” prompting commentary from political observers and social media users pointing to 2028 aspirations.

Pollster Nate Silver recently named Ocasio-Cortez the leading contender for the Democratic nomination, citing her broad party appeal. A Siena College poll shows her favorability in New York rising to 47%, compared to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s 39%.

Ocasio-Cortez raised $9.6 million last quarter, one of the largest hauls ever for a House member, with over 266,000 grassroots donors. Her campaign emphasizes that their focus remains on community organizing, not electoral ambitions—for now.
