Joe Rogan Learns of Charlie Kirk’s Assassination Live on Air During Podcast with Charlie Sheen
Newly surfaced footage shows the moment Joe Rogan learned of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination while recording episode #2379 of The Joe Rogan Experience with actor Charlie Sheen. The news broke near the end of the podcast, revealing that Kirk, 31, had been fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
Kirk was reportedly answering a question about mass shootings when a single bullet struck him in the neck. Panic erupted among the 3,000 attendees. Authorities later confirmed the shot came from a rooftop overlooking the venue, and Kirk was pronounced dead shortly after.
Rogan, visibly shaken, responded on air: “It’s a f***ed up time.” He recalled meeting Kirk at a gun range and described him as “intelligent, reasonable, and not a violent guy,” regardless of political views. Sheen, equally stunned, called the attack “insane,” expressing disbelief that someone could be murdered for holding a different opinion.
Witnesses raised concerns over lax security at the event, noting the absence of metal detectors, bag checks, or visible security personnel.
Following the attack, the FBI released surveillance footage showing the suspected shooter fleeing. Investigators recovered a bolt-action rifle, ammunition, shoe prints, and a palm print in nearby woods—evidence pointing to a premeditated act.
On September 12, Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, identified after a family member came forward with a confession. As the case moves into the legal phase, the political and cultural fallout continues to ripple nationwide.
