Speaker Johnson Says Anyone Disrupting Netanyahu Speech Will Be Arrested

House Speaker Mike Johnson warned that anyone disrupting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s July 24 address to Congress would face arrest.

Johnson stated a “zero-tolerance” policy would be enforced with extra Capitol Police and sergeants-at-arms on hand.

Protesters were expected outside, and demonstrations already occurred in the Capitol’s Cannon Building, leading to several arrests.

Vice President Kamala Harris will not preside over the session, instead attending an event for Zeta Phi Beta sorority, prompting criticism from Johnson.

Many Democrats plan to boycott Netanyahu’s speech, echoing similar action from 2015.

Meanwhile, Bill Maher criticized Harris’s presidential prospects and popularity, arguing Democrats may face challenges if she becomes the nominee. He questioned her effectiveness despite her background, referencing her failed 2020 campaign and role as vice president.
