Supreme Court Lets Trump Revoke ‘Parole’ Status For 500,000 Migrants

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday allowed President Donald Trump’s administration to end temporary legal status for over 500,000 migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua, reversing a lower court ruling and advancing Trump’s deportation agenda.

The unsigned emergency order stayed Judge Indira Talwani’s decision that blocked the administration from terminating the humanitarian parole program created under President Biden.

Justices Sotomayor and Jackson dissented. Biden’s parole policy allowed migrants legal entry for humanitarian reasons, but Trump’s administration argues that its removal is necessary to deter illegal immigration. The Supreme Court recently also permitted Trump to revoke Temporary Protected Status for 350,000 Venezuelans. Separately, the Court narrowed environmental review requirements for major infrastructure projects, dealing another blow to environmental protections. These rulings come as the Court nears the end of its term in June, with several major Trump-backed cases pending, highlighting the conservative majority’s growing impact on immigration and environmental policy.
