Supreme Court OK’s Trump Firing Of Independent Agency Officials

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump has the authority to fire two Democrat-appointed officials, overruling a lower court that reinstated them.

The ruling supports Trump’s effort to expand control over federal agencies but postpones a full review until after standard court proceedings.

The case involves National Labor Relations Board member Gwynne Wilcox and Merit Systems Protection Board member Cathy Harris, whose removal leaves both agencies without necessary quorums. The court favored Trump, citing potential harm to executive power if removed officials remained.

Liberal justices dissented, warning the decision undermines established precedent and favors presidential authority excessively.
