A small passenger jet, carrying ten people, disappeared over Alaska’s Bering Sea while en route from Unalakleet to Nome. The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan vanished from radar at 3:16 p.m., sparking a search by local and Coast Guard teams. The plane was found 34 miles southeast of Nome, with three bodies discovered in the wreckage. Seven others are believed to be inside but are inaccessible due to the wreck’s condition. The search was complicated by poor weather and rough terrain. Authorities suspect a midair incident, as radar data showed a sudden drop in speed and altitude. Governor Mike Dunleavy expressed condolences, praising the efforts of search teams. Investigations continue into the cause of the crash.
