Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy clashed with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Duffy, responding to Clinton’s criticism of the department’s efforts to upgrade aviation systems, defended Musk’s team, asserting that Washington bureaucrats, not Musk’s staff, were to blame for infrastructure problems. Clinton had questioned whether DOGE personnel, whom she claimed lacked relevant experience, should be trusted with airline safety. Duffy fired back, accusing Clinton’s family of “extreme grifting” through USAID, and emphasized DOGE’s focus on fixing the nation’s crumbling infrastructure. Duffy also outlined his commitment to enhancing aviation safety and working with the FAA and Congress to restore confidence in Boeing and Tesla’s safety records. His comments followed growing concerns over recent transportation accidents, including rail and aviation incidents under the Biden administration, leading to heightened scrutiny of the Department of Transportation.
