President Donald Trump is planning to maintain political power beyond his final term by using his substantial fundraising network.
After winning re-election against Kamala Harris, Trump immediately began raising money—amassing $600 million so far—with a goal of $1 billion by the midterms.
According to the Associated Press, he intends to use the funds to secure Republican control of the House and Senate, and to influence the 2028 election. He has held high-dollar fundraisers, including $1.5 million-per-head events and exclusive dinners at Mar-a-Lago. The money supports his PAC, MAGA Inc., and nonprofit group Securing American Greatness. Trump told “Meet the Press” he plans to be “very active” in the midterms, using his influence and war chest to back Republican candidates. He emphasized the importance of retaining congressional power and mocked Democrats as suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” promising continued efforts to expand the GOP majority in Congress.
