President Donald Trump on Saturday revoked the security clearances of several prominent figures, including former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Monaco had coordinated the DOJ’s response to the January 6 Capitol breach, while James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg led legal cases against Trump.
Trump’s move came a day after he revoked former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, referencing Biden’s decision to revoke Trump’s upon taking office and a 2024 report by Special Counsel Robert Hur regarding Biden’s handling of classified information.
As a result, Biden will no longer have access to daily intelligence briefings. Traditionally, former presidents have been granted clearance for these briefings to stay informed on national security matters.
