Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who visited Panama, warned that the U.S. would retaliate if Panama didn’t limit China’s role. Rubio also linked this issue to broader concerns about China’s influence in strategic areas like Greenland, suggesting China could establish military operations there. He stressed that the U.S. might need more control over such locations to safeguard national interests, particularly if it’s already responsible for defense.
