Newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi discussed her close relationship with President Donald Trump and her plans as the nation’s top law enforcement official in an interview with Sean Hannity. Bondi emphasized the strong, supportive bond among Trump’s cabinet, many of whom are long-time friends. She focused on key issues such as immigration, safety, and national security, warning sanctuary cities and states that they could face criminal charges for shielding illegal aliens. Bondi confirmed the Justice Department had filed a lawsuit against Illinois and Chicago for obstructing federal immigration enforcement. She also placed a freeze on federal funding to sanctuary jurisdictions and ordered an investigation into organizations aiding people in the U.S. illegally. Bondi made it clear that jurisdictions failing to comply with federal law would face similar lawsuits and consequences. The Florida Highway Patrol also took steps to aid federal immigration efforts under Governor Ron DeSantis.
