U.S. Attorney Announces Major Arrest Amid L.A. Anti-ICE Riots

In response to six consecutive days of anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, President Donald Trump’s administration has intensified federal enforcement efforts. The FBI arrested Alejandro Theodoro Orellana, an alleged member of the radical Brown Berets group, on charges of conspiracy to commit civil disorder. Orellana is accused of distributing Uvex Bionic Face Shields—typically used in industrial settings—to protesters, helping them resist police crowd control tactics. Footage from FOX LA revealed riot gear being unloaded from a truck and handed to demonstrators. Journalist Andy Ngo reported that far-left activists were crowdfunding the equipment online. Former Trump advisor Joshua Steinman linked Orellana’s actions to broader concerns about border security under the Biden administration.

Meanwhile, Trump thanked the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for allowing his continued deployment of the California National Guard. This reversed a previous ruling by U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer, who claimed Trump had exceeded his authority by federalizing the Guard without Governor Gavin Newsom’s approval. The legal battle highlights ongoing tensions between state and federal authority amid civil unrest and efforts to defend federal property and personnel in California.
