In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kaya described Barron, who is attending NYU’s prestigious Stern School of Business, as “an oddity on campus.” She said, “He goes to class, he goes home.” Kaya’s remarks led to criticism from the College Republicans of America, which called her comments “inappropriate” and contrary to its values. In a subsequent interview with The New York Post, Kaya defended her dedication to supporting the conservative movement at NYU, stating the challenges she faced as a Republican at the university and her efforts to grow the chapter’s membership.
