On Wednesday, President Donald Trump held a swearing-in ceremony for Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
Praising her decades-long legal career, Trump highlighted Pirro’s commitment to justice and strong stance on crime.
Pirro emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to hate and leniency for offenders. Shortly after taking office, she announced the conviction of Taylor Taranto, 39, who livestreamed bomb threats and was found guilty of multiple firearm and hoax-related charges. His sentencing is pending. Pirro also revealed sentencing outcomes for Rasheed Mullins and Josiah Warfield, involved in a 2024 drive-by shooting near a D.C. elementary school; both received over seven years in federal prison. In another case, her office indicted Te’Vaughn Brown, 20, for assaulting a senior citizen outside a Nationals game in 2023. Trump concluded by expressing confidence in Pirro’s ability to serve in one of the nation’s most vital legal roles.
