Woman Accused Of Spitting On Fmr DOJ Attorney Arrested On Assault Charge

A woman was arrested for allegedly spitting on former interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin during a live Newsmax interview in Washington, D.C. Emily Gabriella Sommer, 32, interrupted the May 8 broadcast, shouting insults before spitting on Martin.

She later boasted about the incident on social media, calling him a “racist” and “nepotism hire.” Sommer now faces a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a government officer, which carries a potential one-year jail sentence.

Martin had faced criticism for defending January 6 rioters. Following his departure, Trump appointed Jeanine Pirro as his replacement, who has since filed a lawsuit against Sommer.
