A 49-year-old woman, Caroline Shaw, was arrested Monday night after approaching Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s Florida residence, claiming she had an “urgent message” and firearms in her car. Secret Service agents immediately detained Shaw, and police later arrested her for driving with an expired registration and a suspended license. A judge has ordered her to stay away from Trump and his properties. Authorities are also reviewing a risk protection order against her.
This incident follows a series of recent security breaches at Mar-a-Lago. Just weeks earlier, 23-year-old Anthony Thomas Reyes was arrested after scaling a fence, saying he wanted to “spread the Gospel” and marry Trump’s granddaughter, Kai. Reyes had previously tried to enter the property over New Year’s and was warned by police at that time.
Mar-a-Lago’s unique status as both a private club and a presidential residence poses ongoing security challenges. The U.S. Secret Service emphasized that while recent incidents did not compromise protective operations, they are taken seriously and managed in close cooperation with local authorities.
