Donald and Melania Trump Arrive in UK for Windsor Stay
Former President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the UK and headed straight to Windsor Castle for an overnight visit. As they stepped off Air Force One, lip readers caught Trump commenting on the chilly weather and cautioning Melania about the slippery steps—a rare personal moment amid a highly orchestrated arrival.
The trip follows an invitation from King Charles earlier this year, aiming to strengthen transatlantic ties despite recent strains in U.S.–UK relations. The Royal Family confirmed the visit with a throwback photo from Trump’s 2019 state visit, sparking debate and criticism over hosting the controversial former president.
Outside Windsor Castle, protests took place, including images of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein projected onto the castle walls. Four arrests were reported during these demonstrations. Nevertheless, Trump and Melania were formally welcomed by UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, U.S. Ambassador Warren Stephens, and Viscount Hood.
The official program includes a royal salute at Windsor Castle, mirrored by a salute at the Tower of London, followed by a carriage ride with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine.
Though arriving in London, the Trumps will not attend formal events in the capital, focusing instead on Windsor and royal engagements.
The visit underscores the monarchy’s diplomatic role, with public opinion split between criticism of the hosting decision and calls for pragmatic engagement. The combination of protests and ceremonial pageantry highlighted the complex emotions surrounding the Trumps’ UK visit.
