Maria José Cristerna, known as the “real-life vampire” for her extreme body modifications, has issued a stark warning to those following her path. With 50 physical changes, including a full-body tattoo collection, implants, and a split tongue, she holds the Guinness World Record for the most bodily alterations as of 2022.
Cristerna, who got her first tattoo at 14, says her transformations are a means of escaping a traumatic, abusive marriage. “We came to this world to be happy,” she says, urging others to prioritize self-love.
Despite her pride in her appearance, she cautions young people: “Think about it a lot as it is irreversible.” Cristerna stresses the importance of being certain about such drastic changes, acknowledging that trends may fade, but the modifications remain permanent.
Even now, she continues her body art journey, recently sharing a new tattoo on social media.
