Dr. Kelly Powers, Fox News Medical Contributor, Dies at 45 After Battle with Brain Cancer
Dr. Kelly Powers, a respected Fox News medical contributor and accomplished surgeon, has died at age 45 following a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. She passed away on Sunday in New Jersey, according to Holmdel Funeral Home.
Born on May 13, 1979, in Yonkers, New York, Powers built a remarkable career in both medicine and media. She earned degrees from Baruch College, the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, and the University of San Francisco, later completing residencies at Georgetown University and Boston University.
Renowned for her medical expertise and deep empathy, Powers became a trusted voice on public health, appearing frequently on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, and CBS. Her insightful commentary and calm presence made her a reliable source for millions of viewers.
In 2020, Powers was diagnosed with glioblastoma after collapsing during a live television segment. Despite the grim prognosis, she underwent three brain surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation—while continuing to inspire others with her resilience. During her recovery, she welcomed her son, Bennett, and often joked that they had matching haircuts due to treatment. “I’m the luckiest unlucky girl,” she once said.
When her cancer returned in 2024, friends and supporters rallied around her, raising nearly $100,000 to help fund experimental treatment. She is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, and their young son.
“She was a brave and beautiful soul,” her obituary reads.
Visitation will be held Thursday, with a funeral service Friday at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank, New Jersey. Dr. Powers’ legacy of compassion, strength, and service will not be forgotten.
