Adrianna Jones trusted a home daycare in Georgia to care for her 2-year-old son, Kaimir Jones, after hearing positive reviews. Tragically, on October 4, that trust was shattered when Kaimir was killed by two Rottweilers while under the care of 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb, who was running an unlicensed daycare.
According to police, Cobb fell asleep for over two hours during which Kaimir wandered out and opened a kennel containing the dogs. By the time first responders arrived, the child had already died.
“My intuition as a mother said get off work early and see what’s going on… I pulled up to eight police at the home daycare’s location,” Adrianna shared on her GoFundMe page.
Stacy Wheeler Cobb has been charged with second-degree murder and child cruelty in connection with Kaimir’s death. Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan called the incident “a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred.”
In the aftermath, Adrianna has been pleading for justice for her son. “My baby needs justice. Please promise me to keep my baby’s name alive,” she wrote, urging the community to remember Kaimir.
The tragedy has moved many, and more than $25,000 has already been raised to support a memorial for Kaimir. As the community mourns, Adrianna’s heartbreaking story serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of licensing and oversight in childcare, and the devastating consequences when safety is compromised.
