Remembering Tayt Anderson: Ellen DeGeneres’ Beloved Guest Dies at 19
Tayt Anderson, whose joyful spirit touched millions through his appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has passed away at 19 after a lifelong battle with illness.
Born with only the right side of his heart, doctors said Tayt wouldn’t live past three months. By age 9, he’d endured 12 surgeries. At 10, he received a life-saving heart transplant—but complications followed, including post-transplant lymphoma in his teens.
In 2024, Tayt was diagnosed with bladder cancer at just 18. Despite aggressive treatments, the cancer spread. By mid-2025, he was told he had four months to live. He survived three.
His family shared: “While our souls feel shattered and lost, we are so thankful that Tayt is finally free. No more pain, no more treatments. Tayt was loved by so many and impacted countless lives with his smile, strength, and kindness.”
Tayt first appeared on Ellen in 2013 at age 7, calling her his “girlfriend.” Ellen lovingly called him her “only boyfriend.” His mom, Chrissy Becker, said the show brought him joy during hospital stays and even influenced treatment schedules.
He returned several times, including in 2015 to celebrate his new heart. Ellen and her team supported the family with trips, gifts, and practical help. Tayt lived by Dory’s famous line: “Just keep swimming.”
Ellen honored him with a video tribute, calling him “a very special little human being” who brought light wherever he went.
Tayt lived with grace and resilience. His legacy is one of courage, joy, and unwavering hope.
