Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes Trump’s Tariffs and Immigration Approach
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a vocal figure in the Republican Party, has publicly criticized former President Donald Trump over his tariff and immigration policies, signaling a shift in her previously unwavering support.
In a recent interview with comedian Tim Dillon, Greene accused Trump of prioritizing “crypto donors” over the working-class Americans who propelled him to power. She argued that while many manufacturers still support Trump’s broader economic goals, ongoing tariffs have led to persistent supply chain issues. “Has the stress come off? No, that has not happened yet,” Greene said, emphasizing the continued pressure on American businesses.
Greene also expressed concern that Trump has distanced himself from the base that once defined his political identity. “The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies,” she said. “Those are the ones that voted for not only the president, but every single Republican that gave us power.”
In a surprising turn, Greene also softened her stance on immigration. While traditionally a hardliner on the issue, she acknowledged the need for a more practical solution to labor shortages. “It needs to be a smarter plan than just rounding up every single person and deporting them,” she said, suggesting that some undocumented workers should be allowed to remain in specific industries.
Her remarks, which mirror criticisms from across the aisle, have drawn attention from both supporters and detractors. Some on the left have praised her candor, while others in the GOP may see it as a sign of internal division.
