Pritzker Melts Down After Trump Says He ‘Should Be In Jail’

Pritzker Fires Back at Trump and Vance: “Come and Get Me”

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, considered a potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender, issued a sharp rebuke to former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance during an appearance on ABC’s This Week. His comments followed Trump’s social media post accusing Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson of failing to protect ICE officers during a recent protest, saying both “should be in jail.”

Pritzker didn’t hold back. “Come and get me,” he told host George Stephanopoulos, rejecting the accusations as politically motivated lies. He accused the Trump administration of engaging in dangerous rhetoric and spreading misinformation. “You heard a tidal wave of lies from the vice president of the United States,” Pritzker said, referring to Vance’s earlier appearance on the program. “They’re making things up to go after people.”

Although he did not cite specific legal statutes, Pritzker warned that Trump’s tactics amounted to unconstitutional overreach. He called on leaders from both parties to speak out. “Even Governor Phil Scott in Vermont has called this unconstitutional,” he noted.

When asked if he feared federal retaliation under a second Trump administration, Pritzker acknowledged the risk but stood firm. “Do I think he could do it? He might,” he said. “But… come and get me.”

Trump’s comments stemmed from an incident in Broadview, Illinois, where ICE agents were allegedly attacked during a protest. A woman armed with a semi-automatic weapon was arrested after reportedly attempting to ram an agent’s vehicle.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
