Hollywood Mourns the Loss of Diane Keaton
Hollywood is mourning the death of Diane Keaton, the Oscar-winning actress whose wit, authenticity, and bold individuality made her one of the most beloved performers of her time. Keaton passed away on October 11, 2025, at age 79, from complications related to bacterial pneumonia. She died at a hospital near her Los Angeles home, according to her family. Her death certificate confirms she was cremated three days later.
Close friends described her final months as quiet and private. Songwriter Carole Bayer Sager noted that Keaton had become noticeably thin in recent visits, saying, “She had lost so much weight.” Those close to her said she chose to face her health decline surrounded only by family, away from the public spotlight.
Keaton had long been open about her struggles with bulimia and recurring skin cancer, urging others to take their health seriously. Her candor and resilience inspired many.
Best known for Annie Hall, The Godfather, and Something’s Gotta Give, Keaton redefined what it meant to be a leading lady: quirky, confident, and unapologetically real. Offscreen, she embraced motherhood later in life, adopting two children, Dexter and Duke, who she called her proudest accomplishments.
She is also survived by her sisters, Dorrie and Robin. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to local food banks and animal shelters—causes Keaton quietly supported for years.
Diane Keaton was more than an actress. She was a force of nature whose laughter, legacy, and originality will continue to echo in hearts and on screens for generations.
