Trump Blasts “Fake Polls” as Approval Ratings Hit New Low
Ten months into his presidency, Donald Trump is facing a political gut punch: a fresh wave of national polls showing his approval at one of the lowest levels ever recorded for a modern U.S. president.
According to multiple surveys released Tuesday, just 34% of Americans approve of Trump’s performance, while 61% disapprove. Support among independents has plunged below 30%, a blow analysts say will be “extremely difficult to recover from” heading into a re-election year.
“The polls are a joke,” Trump fired back on X. “Fake numbers from fake pollsters. The REAL numbers are incredible, and the people know it!”
White House aides described the president as “combative and volatile” after seeing the results. One said he was “storming around the West Wing,” demanding to know which pollsters were responsible and accusing his team of failing to “fix the narrative.”
The poor ratings come amid mounting criticism over foreign policy, the economy, and domestic unrest. Historically, presidents rarely rebound from such low approval without major strategic change.
Still, Trump has doubled down, vowing that “the Silent Majority is bigger than ever.” Analysts say he’s using the numbers to energize supporters rather than recalibrate his approach.
“This is classic Trump,” said political analyst Dr. Ian Roberts. “He turns weakness into a rallying cry.”
But critics warn that unless he wins back independents and suburban voters, the polls could lock him into an unwinnable position.
