Residents were left stunned Tuesday evening as giant hailstones battered the small town, transforming what began as a calm night into a scene of chaos and disbelief.
The storm swept in with almost no warning, accompanied by fierce winds, flashes of lightning, and claps of thunder that rattled windows. Within minutes, hailstones began pelting the area—so large that many residents compared them to golf balls, and some even to baseballs. The deafening sound of ice slamming against roofs, cars, and pavement echoed through neighborhoods as people raced indoors to take cover.
Witnesses described the downpour as one of the most intense storms they had ever experienced. “It sounded like rocks hitting the house,” said one resident, still shaken by the violence of the hail. Another recalled watching helplessly as the windshield of a parked car shattered in seconds.
When the storm finally moved on, the damage was striking. Dozens of vehicles were dented, windows shattered, and several homes suffered significant roof damage. Fallen branches and scattered ice made roads slick and treacherous, forcing emergency crews to temporarily close off several streets.
Local authorities issued immediate advisories, urging residents to remain indoors until cleanup efforts could begin. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, though minor power outages affected parts of the town.
Meteorologists said the storm formed rapidly due to a collision between a strong cold front and unusually humid air—a rare combination for this time of year.
As the sky cleared and temperatures dropped, residents emerged to survey the icy aftermath, sharing stories, photos, and a sense of relief that the storm, though fierce, had finally passed.
