Remembering Tayt Anderson: Ellen DeGeneres’ Beloved Guest Dies at 19
Tayt Anderson, who captured hearts on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, passed away on September 26 at just 19 years old, following a courageous battle with cancer and lifelong health complications.
Born with only half a heart, Tayt underwent 12 surgeries by age nine. Doctors once said he wouldn’t live past three months. At ten, he received a heart transplant—but it came with complications. He developed lymphoma in his teens, and in 2024 was diagnosed with bladder cancer. By summer 2025, the disease had spread, and he was given four months to live. He made it three.
His family shared:
“While our souls feel shattered, we are thankful Tayt is finally free. No more pain, no more treatments. He was loved by so many.”
Tayt first appeared on Ellen in 2013 at age seven, charming audiences by calling her his “girlfriend.” Ellen quickly called him her “only boyfriend.” He returned to the show multiple times, with Ellen and her team supporting his family with gifts, vacations, and hope.
Tayt lived by Dory’s mantra from Finding Nemo: “Just keep swimming.”
Ellen remembered him in a tribute video:
“He was a very special little human being… I will miss him.”
Despite immense challenges, Tayt graduated high school, traveled, and inspired thousands. His life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and joy.
His legacy lives on through those who loved him—and the many more he quietly inspired.
